Let’s talk Second Hand!!!

I know some of you love it and some of you hate it. BUT there is no doubt that it is an amazing tool to locate deals.

If you are reading my blog chances are you are not rolling in the dough OR you are AWFUL with money management. 9 times out of 10 the reason you are short on the green is because you are living out of your means.

I hear so much from people that they just cannot do second hand. PISH POSH Swallow your ego and stop acting like a child. You can pick and choose your second hand finds so just be smart about them. Just because it is used does not mean EEWW

I have prided myself in if I don't need to spend full price why should I??? I will hunt at Goodwill, garage sales, Craigslist, and anywhere I know I can save. SO much of my furniture and clothing come from second hand places it isn't even funny.

I was taught to save from one of the very best. I see most people were never taught to save. This generation has an instant gratification attitude or just doesn’t take responsibility for their spending habits.  

How about you change your thought process to what you can afford!

 

Here are a few Craigslist tips if you have never tried it before!

1)      If you want something ACT FAST!!

2)      Search Misspellings and several names

3)      If it is already a good deal do not haggle. Chances are they have 10 ppl already wanting it.

4)      However……If you don’t need to snag it right away haggle down the price.   

5)      Be smart don’t ever go alone to pick up items.

6)      Make sure other ppl are expecting to hear from you at a certain time after you pick up items so they know that you are ok.  

7)      When you arrange pick up do it sooner rather than later. You wait too long they have a chance to change their mind or sell it to someone else.

8)      The best chance of snagging a find is to refresh the desired page till you see one pop up. This way you can snag it ASAP.

9)      If the ad has a phone number call instead of email. I always call first then email if I left a message.

10)   Be patient!! Some things take longer but in the end can save you tons!

.59 each per dish soap ( in 6/16 ss there is a coupon .50/1) they are on sale for b4g4 at 1.59 double the .50 coupon and .59
.18 per deodorant   (there is a coupon in SS 6/16 for .50/1 and $1/1) use either one on the b4g4 at 1.18... After coupon deodorants are .18 each
1.99 each Silk Milk (there is a blinkie on the door for .55/1) it doubles to the $1 making them 1.99.

The shaving, gel razors and Mac and Cheese were free.
The razors they substituted for the b4g4 so they were 4.49 I had a coupon from RR 6/16 for $5/1 making the a .49 mm they about covered the cost of my .59
The shaving cream is from the last P&G for $1/ they are on the b4g4 for $1

I Got My Target Beauty Box

This was a $5 mystery box that arrived today. I have been waiting since late April. My mystery box was so worth it. I received two full sizes products, a travel size, and two samples. The box also came with a Target coupon $3 off 15 which I know I can stack for a deal later.

This box was a previous deal and isn't available anymore. I just wanted to show you what came in it.

SHOP AROUND and BACK AROUND

I can not stress enough that part of saving is to SHOP AROUND!!!

     I do this with all things all the time. The last shop around saved me $490. Let me share a story.

I love love my huskies and they are just the cutest. It came time for the dreaded fixing of the dogs :( This is a costly thing and I have twice the cost with two puppies. WELL, I was determined to not make this a budget buster.

      I was told that for my dogs sizes and types it should be around 250 per dog for spay and chipping. I was prepared for this and was budgeting since we got them for the extra $500 cost that would come around. I almost did the most awful thing and DID'T shop around * gasps*.

   Then my vet told me she would charge $360 per dog. AWW MAN!!!! NOT what I put aside! This got me thinking oh I didn't shop around. Hmmmm where to start???? I started calling every vet and animal hospital near me. BINGO!!! I almost fell out of my chair when the lady on the phone quoted me the price. $85 for spay and $30 for chipping....this totals $115 per DOG. WHAT???? I began questioning her...does this include everything...pain meds, cone of shame, and EVERYTHING? I am sure she thought I was weird but sure enough it was just was the right price.

I scheduled the appointment and took them in. The place was so nice and they were kind to my dogs. I had no problems and my dogs are all fixed up. It was clear to me that most vets BLOW up this cost and that was why it sounded scary $$$$$$.    

My shoping around SAVED me big bucks!!! Make sure you don't forget like I almost did.

It has been a crazy week. I have brothers in town and finals OH MYYYYY. lol

We are crazy busy but we are still saving.

I want you to be encouraged to use the saving sites like Groupon and Living Social.

I use these two sites a lot!!! When people come in to town I try to stock up on deals for fun while they are here.

Using Groupon I was able to get paintballing for 4 for only $78, Living Social had a bowling deal 6 ppl for $30, and much more. These are just some of the amazing deals. You just have to look around in your area. On just these two outings I saved over $200.

We even got Rockies tickets for 2 bucks. Check around your area you can find tiny deals like this on days that most people don't go out.

You can have Summer fun while saving!!!!

The Before

We Were needing to paint our house but the cost of supplies and labor were running around 3,000. WOW!!!!!

We decided like with most things we will do it ourselves.

My husband sought out a friend that had a paint sprayer BIG help!!!

If you can not find such a friend then I would invest in one. They are around $250. I know what you are think WOW but compared to 3000 that is still a huge savings!

Our paint supplies from all the colors, 4 new shutters, and all supplies cost us $350. 

This is a HUGE saving and I have to give credit to my Hubby, Savin Steve, and TJ's Dad for all the hard work

Coupons are Not Just for the Grocery Stores

Did you get one of these in the mail?

I was tempted to throw it out thinking nah I do not want just a another magazine sitting around. Then I looked at the cover and notice it had a coupon for $15 off a $15 purchase. Yay! I decided to see what I could get with my coupon. I looked up my all time fav bra and noticed that it was on sale and I could use my coupon. I decided even though I could find something around 15 and just pay shipping the bra was a better score.
Originally the bra is 45 + 6.99 (s/h)+tax =54.60
With the mark down and coupon 33+6.99(s/h)+taxes- 15=26.66

I saved around 50% for a Victoria's Secret bra.


You just never know what coupons pop up and when you may be able to save big.

Walmart Premiere Movie Night

We get to go to an advance showing of Man Of Steel.

This deal was found by my mom while she was shopping at Walmart.
These were 5 per tickets and 7.50 for the 3d

We got just the regular tickets for $5
Now I do not know all areas this is showing but the link below will tell you more.
I did notice the locations link is getting a lot of action so you may have to try it in a view hours. I would see if your Walmart is doing this it is a great deal to see a new movie.

My Pinterest Idea for $25

Ok so we all are addicted to Pinterest and we pin like crazy. I pin a million things and never end up doing them....no more. I pin it I do it!

This is a necklaces holder I saw awhile ago and decided to go for it.
This is a simple towel bar and shower curtain hooks.
I bought these items at Target so maybe you can find a better deal at Walmart. I just absolutely hate Walmarts in CO and Target had the metal color I liked best.

However this is the best 25 bucks I have spent. I am always untangling my necklaces and now they area cute wall piece.

Savin Steve is Calling Target Out

As we were shopping deals today Savin Steve became thirsty. In order to get the most  for his money he decided on a refillable small fountain drink. This way he could fill it up several times while shopping. However he was charged 1.12 and handed this dinky cup to the left. Savin Steve was speechless. Seriously?... The cup to the right is a Subway's small drink and cost the same.

Savin Steve was so take back by the small drink he almost asked the lady if she was joking. Savin Steve has one message for Target.....we love ya but get bigger cups or charge less for your Dixie cup sizes.
